Background

Dr. Timmins received his B.S. and Ph.D from the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Texas A&M University in 2005 and 2010, respectively. The latter under the supervision of Professor James E. Moore, Jr. During his Ph.D studies, Dr. Timmins was a Whitaker International Fellow working in the laboratory of Professor Stephen E. Greenwald at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. He conducted postdoctoral training at the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology (Profs. Don P Giddens, John N. Oshinski) and Division of Cardiology at Emory University (Prof. Habib Samady). Prior to joining the University of Utah, Dr. Timmins was an Instructor in the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences at Emory University from 2015-16.

Research Interests

His research focus is in the area of cardiovascular biomechanics. Key research topics include the development and validation of computational frameworks to characterize the in vivo mechanical environment, evaluation of the structure-function relationship in vascular tissues, and medical device design and optimization.
